Injection mould for left and right automotive exterior trim panels is used to efficiently and as matched sets produce the left- and right-side automotive exterior trim panels within the same mould design or in paired moulds, including door trim panels, tailgate trim panels, fender trim pieces, side skirts, and other appearance and structural components.
Typical applications:
- Automotive door trim panels, interior/exterior joining parts, and trim strips.
- Front/rear fender trim, luggage compartment lid trim, and trunk lid trim panels.
- Bumper local trim pieces, side skirts, and sill trim panels and other external decorative parts.
- Plastic appearance and structural parts that require left-right pairing and high surface quality.
Injection molding process and production flow:
- Trial-mould stage: perform initial trial moulding to verify filling and shrinkage, and adjust gate, injection parameters, and mould temperature.
- Process stabilization: establish and lock injection speed, holding pressure profile, cooling time, and mould temperature control strategy to ensure consistency between left and right parts.
- Mass production and monitoring: use SPC and online inspection to monitor critical dimensions and appearance yield, and adjust parameters in time to maintain stable output.
- Post-processing and pre-assembly inspection: perform trimming, welding, insert assembly, or surface treatment, followed by assembly validation and functional testing.
Quality control and validation:
- Dimensional and fit inspections: sample-check critical dimensions and assembly reference surfaces using calipers, profile projectors, or CMM.
- Appearance inspection: check for surface defects, color difference, flow marks, and texture consistency.
- Physical properties and weathering tests: carry out mechanical performance, thermal cycling, weathering, and UV resistance tests as required.
- Assembly validation: perform in-vehicle interface assembly to verify gaps and fit to ensure no interference in actual assembly.
